Chartered Marketer (CM) Designation

Getting a CM designation adds a level of prestige to your career. “It’s a stamp of approval by a professional body that you are a high-level marketing practitioner,” says Booysen-Fourie.

The process is rigorous and includes a portfolio of qualifications and experience. Applicants are evaluated by accredited assessors and moderators and assigned a level of qualification and designation. Those who achieve a CM (Africa) will be granted the right to use CM letters after their name and can display the Chartered Marketer (CM) logo on their website, LinkedIn profile and personal stationery.

Course instructors confirm that the CM program makes marketers more confident, polished and analytical in their presentations. The CM program also helps marketers keep up with the pace of change in marketing. For example, the upcoming new privacy laws in Canada and Europe will impact all marketers’ ability to collect and use data. The CM designation program addresses these changes and will help to prepare marketers to lead their teams through the disruption.

The CMA Code of Ethics & Standards

As rapid changes reshape the marketing sector, CMA saw that many marketers struggled to acquire the broad understanding and soft skills required for senior roles. To address this, the association developed the CM designation. Working with experts at D2L, the CM course content is constantly updated and fine-tuned to reflect industry trends, while adding new case studies to keep learners engaged.

ACA’s member-only events and webinars offer opportunities to discuss the latest marketing issues – confidentially. ACA also advocates on behalf of members, appearing before government and industry stakeholders to ensure their voices are heard.

CMA Careers

Passing the CMA exam opens doors that a bachelor’s or master’s degree simply can’t. A CMA certification provides career-minded professionals with a level of knowledge that goes beyond accounting to cover strategic decision making, financial reporting and management processes. This knowledge can translate into real-world career success in international businesses, as well as positions that put the holder in leadership roles right under the company’s CEO.

In addition, CMAs are responsible for preparing data in digestible ways for executive boards and other high-level company personnel. This is a task that most entry-level accountants and even many CPAs won’t take on, further extending the breadth of their professional skills.

The pay gap between CMAs and non-CMAs is significant. According to the 2021 IMA Global Salary Survey, CMAs earn an average of $58,000 more than their non-CMA counterparts. With such an impressive monetary advantage, it’s no wonder so many people pursue the CMA designation.
